A Short Brief About Garla Parish & Innovative Ministry

Elkathurthy parish was entrusted to the MSFS by Bishop of Warangal Most Rev. Thumma Bala on 8th November 1990. Rev. Fr. Mathew Manayathumazhy msfs was the first parish priest. This was the first mission for the MSFS in this diocese. The Presbytery was constructed by Fr. Mathew Manyathumazhy in 1993 parish church was built by Rev. Fr. Allam Pratap Reddy msfs in 2003. Thereafter, Fr. Joseph Nellimalamattam and Fr. Julian rendered their services Besides Elkathurthy, it has Catholics at Chinthalapalli, Damera, Indiranagar, Kothapalli, Somadevarapalli, Gopalpur, Suraram and Bavupeta.

The parish has in all roughly 1450 Catholics and still growing in numbers. At present, Fr. Joseph Padannamackal working in the centre looking after the parish and running a boarding for the school children.
